About Amythos Films
Amythos Films inc. an independent documentary production company was established in Israel in 1993 and in 2004 moved its head offices to Toronto Ontario in Canada. Films produced by Amythos Films were presented in numerous film festivals and won major prizes in Israel (three times winner of the Israeli Academy Award for St Jean 1993, Baba Luba 1995 and Pick Up a Card by Julie Shles in 1997 and the Doc Aviv Best film Award for Sumud by Ayelet Dekel in 2001) as well as the prestigious "Golden Fipa" award 2003 for Purity by Anat Zuria in Biarritz, and the Joris Ivens Award 2003 for Checkpoint by Yoav Shamir in IDFA. Among first works are: Testimonies , St. Jean and The Specialist. During 2001-3 the company joined with Ilan Ziv from Tamouz Media New York to form a new company - AT Media. Among their clients were National Geographic Channels, Discovery and Granada Media UK. Some of the titles produced by AT Media : The Human Weapon – a co-production with Point Du Jour, MDR, Noga and ARTE directed by Ilan Ziv (second prize Prix Europa Berlin 2002) and Purity directed by Anat Zuria (FIPA d’OR for best creative documentary Biarritz 2003, Best director One World film festival Prague 2003, Special Documentary prize Dokfest Munich 2003, Audience Award & special prize of Jewry Yamagata Japan 2003, Discovery prize by the French Authors Guild SCAM 2004 ) and Junction by Ilan Ziv co-produced with ARTE and Point Du Jour, IKON,TSR & YLE (Best documentary in Haifa Film Festival October 2003). In 2003 Amythos films released the feature doc Checkpoint by Yoav Shamir which won the prestigious Joris Iven Award IDFA 2003, and in 2004 won San Francisco Golden Gate, Best International feature at Hot docs Toronto, Dokfest Munich, Madrid and Doc Aviv and more. Sentenced to Marriage by Anat Zuria released in 2004 won best Doc at the Jerusalem Film Festival in July 2004 and premiered internationally in IDFA 2004 and won best film in Hot Docs 2005, in 2006 Amythos Film Inc Canada released its first Canada-France co production: Le Blues de L’Orient or Between Two Notes A feature length doc, 35 mm by Florence Strauss co produced with Les Films D’ici France, and The National Film Board. ![]() In 2004 she immigrated from Israel to Canada and is currently residing in Toronto with her partner and her daughter. She is a guest speaker at numerous events and educational institutions and a jury member/programmer /consultant for festivals and industry events around the world. She is also developing new projects for traditional and new media. Events she attended include, but are not limited to: IDFA (jury member of Joris Ivens Award Amsterdam 2001) Hot Docs (Canadian Spectrum jury member,Toronto 2005) Copenhagen CPH DOX (Amnesty Award jury member 2007) Thessaloniki DocFest Greece, Haifa Film Festival Israel and the Sunny Side of the Doc Marseilles France. Breuer is also a founding member of the DocAgora Association and International Working Group which organizes conferences and workshops on the future of socially engaged documentaries in the digital era. She is also the co-founder/co-programmer of the Toronto Israeli Palestinian Film festival Voices Forward and has worked as a Programmer for the Toronto Jewish Film Festival since 2005. | ||
